I believe that Lars illustrates a little bit of disturbing to others, an atypical behavior as well. the people around him seems to stress about his behaviors and actions towards the girl. So, the community, not the majority but minor people is on his side and supports his idea. Also, this is an atypical behavior because an adult, taking a doll as a real human and treating one like it shows a weird action. No one, I have met in my life, had fallen in love with a doll, but in this situation, Lars has fallen in love with a doll. This action itself is not understandable for the majority, making it atypical.

I do not think she has any major disorders, even though it might be Asperger Syndrome, she does seem satisfied with the situation she is in, now. Though the community views her as different from the majority, however, I believe that this is just some sort of person who has a different belief towards another. It's just like a person with a different religion and rituals. Also, she doesn't act or feel different from other people just the way she looks is different. Thus, this doesn't make her a person with mental illness but just different opinions.
